The American Association of Feed Control Officials(AAFCO)defines Hydrolysed Poultry Feathers as the product resulting from the treatment under pressure of clean, undecomposed feathers from slaughtered poultry, free of additives and/or accelerators. Not less than 70% of its crude protein content must be digestible by the pepsin digestibility method.

During processing the cystine linkage is broken, increasing the value of the meal. To make it digestible it must first be converted through a hydrolysis process.

Our hydrolyzation is accomplished by cooking the feathers with steam. This was previously done in batch cookers as our current technology is to use continuous hydrolyzers, to maintain a palatable and highly disgestible protein source.
