INTRODUCTION
Promatra Industries Sdn Bhd was established since 1994 with 30 years practical knowledge and experience background, to produce high quality Iron and Steel castings to cater for every type of industry. The foundry has its own foundry department where melting, moulding, heat treatment and fettling (cleaning of casting) are carried out.
A monthly of more than 80 tonne of Iron and Steel castings are supplied to industries such as Palm Oil, Marine, Rubber, Cement, Construction, Mining, Quarry and other general engineering. The range of materials offered is extensive and includes carbon steel, low alloy steel, high alloy steel, wear resisting steels and irons to BS (British Standard), ASTM (American Standards for Testing of Materials), DIN (German Standards) and JIS (Japanese Standards) specifications or to the customers individual requirements.
FOUNDRY FACILITIES
Two sets of induction furnaces of 500 kgs capacity to produce consistent, homogenous molten metal. Induction melting induces magnetic stirring of the molten metal and alloys added into the melt will be stirred until they are absorbed homogenously throughout the melt. This consistency and homogeneity is indispensable for the attainment of desired chemical and physical properties of any given material melt after melt.
Moulds are made using chemically bonded sand that allows accurate dimensions and close tolerances to be obtained. Moulding is carried out in tow rapid moulding flowlines. Thus, moulding time is reduced due to the speed and versatility of such a set up.
Heat treatment is carried out on Steel and alloyed iron to enable the attainment of required physical properties and also to relieve the internal stresses built up during solidification of the metal.
Shot blast machine is assist in the fettling/cleaning department in preparing the castings for speedy delivery. This machine blast clean the castings free from adhering sand and grinding is then carried out to removal flash and riser heads. After this is done, the castings are sent to the machine shop or directly to the quality control department and finally to the despatch area.
