PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil corporation of Malaysia. Fully established in 2008, PLI is the union of two respectable lubricant and functional fluids companies FL Selenia and PETRONAS&＃039; own Lubricant Unit. As a result, this has sparked off a new organisation that is structured and focused on offering the best lubricants and functional fluids to the world. The binding and driving factor behind PLI is its commitment to its role as a Fluid Technology Solutions company for today and tomorrow. PLI is supported by seven blending and filling plants worldwide; Contagem in Brazil, Turin and Naples in Italy, Durban in South Africa, Barcelona in Spain, Hemiksem in Belgium and Melaka in Malaysia. Designed to produce the same quality of fluids like the one produced by the scientists in the lab, these plants are equipped with automatic control system. This system enables automated batch blending with precise addition of bulk components from various storage tanks and computerised control of critical devices such as mixers, heaters, pumps and valves. Apart from achieving accuracy and consistency, it also eliminates the possibility of errors. PLI&＃039;s filling facilities on the other hand, employ a mix of automatic as well as adjustable lines. This is to ensure that PLI is flexible in filling its fluids into all sorts of required packages to satisfy various users. All PLI plants are officially certified with ISO9001 for quality management and ISO14001 for environmental management. As an inventive organisation dealing with complex engineering of fluids, PLI is backed up by two world-class R & D Centres covering the West and the East; Turin, Italy and Bangi, Malaysia. The latter is also the hub for PETRONAS&＃039; scientific petroleum research activities. Both facilities are fully loaded with the latest instrumentations to perform sophisticated fluid developmental tests such as liquid and gas chromatography, infrared radiation, plasma magnetic field, thermal analysis, tribological tests and many more. To cater to automotive needs, multiple engine test cells are available to perform all kinds of fluid development works. These include bench and dynamometers with intelligent automatic drivers to provide as real as possible inputs. These two centres are familiar playgrounds to many leading OEMs and corporate users in their search for fluids that match values they are seeking. Progressively, these centres are consistently updated to keep up with the ever-changing world of engineering.
