Nawab Abdul Malek Jute Mills (BD) Ltd. is the leading force behind a family owned conglomerate, consisting of three companies: Associated Engineers & Drillers, Garter AED Packaging and NAM Jute Mills itself.
NAM Jute Mills was purchased from the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) in 1979. At that time, it had a daily production capacity of eight tons, producing local yarn/twine. Under the leadership and vision of its Managing Director, Ahmed Hossain, NAM has emerged as a manufacturer of high-grade jute yarn for CRT, CRM, CRX and CRP carpet looms. NAM sells its products to other businesses mainly carpet manufacturers in Europe, Middle East and North America amongst others.
NAM manufactures jute yarn of various counts from 4 lbs to 60 lbs. It is specialized in manufacturing yarn count of 4 lbs, and is one of the few jute mills in Bangladesh to offer such a finer quality yarn. It is able to customize the yarn starting from single ply to any number of ply according to the demand of the buyers. Furthermore, it offers a range of dyed, bleached, polished and PVA coated yarn as required by the client.
Arguably the finest jute yarn manufacturer in the country, NAM has an installed production capacity of over 30,000 tons per year. All of its products are exported. NAM directly employs about 2000 people. NAM believes and promotes gender equality and about one third of the labor force is women.
