Gopalpur Ports Limited

Gopalpur Ports Ltd., Head Office : Hauz Khas, New Delhi ( promoted by Sara International Ltd., A-31, Hauz Khas, New Delhi, has entered into an agreement with the government of Orissa , to develop and operate Gopalpur port in Ganjam District , Orissa). Currently, it is operating the old Gopalpur port which is a fair weather port only ***** port operates from November to April every year and closes down during monsoon periods. Loading and discharging of vessels at anchorage is done through barges. Currently, we are handling fertilizers, Iron Ore, Mineral sand, Rice etc.We have set a cargo handling target of around 1 million Tonnes for this season (Nov. 2008 - Apr 2009). Gopalpur port is on national highway 217 and is five kilometres away from main corridor NH-5, which is a part of the Indian Golden Quadilateral. The broadening and relaying of NH-217 and the accessibility to NH-5 makes Gopalpur an ideal location for quick road evacuation. We are currently having co-user agreement with IREL (Indian Rare Earths Limited) to use their railway siding just adjacent to the port for our rakes (under WIS scheme) arriving at the port. Beside this , construction of our new port will commence soon where we have planned to construct 3 berths for handling cargoes like Coal, Iron ore, fertilizers, Mineral sand etc. Construction is expected to be completed by 2011.
