Diesel Particulate Exhaust Filter Goal: Develop and manufacture an active diesel particulate exhaust filter (DPF) for transportation refrigeration units (TRU) that would be a fully automatic active regeneration system and qualify with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and their definitions and guidelines as to required exhaust emission compliance figures (LETRU/Level 2 emission compliance) for transportation refrigeration units (TRU).Brief Description: It uses Fuel Born Catalyst (FBC) strategy, incorporating a fast acting intake air throttle valve, which when closing raises the exhaust gas temperature by mg 250mDC and when opened immediately after again provides high oxygen content to the heated filter thus decoupling the availability of temperature and oxygen for a controlled regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The electronic control unit (ECU) monitors back-pressure, exhaust temperature, oxygen content and regeneration time and includes self-adapting elements.
