Sayeed Muhammad and Sons traders Pte Ltd is a company with a long history, having been established by our founder, the late K. Syed Mohamed in 1940 to engage in the business of trading grains and spices. This was the fulfillment of the dream and aspirations of an immigrant who came all the way from India, and the start of a long journey that has seen a small trading company grow into a successful Singapore-based business with a turnover of $75 million.

Our story began in a shop along Old Market Street, where Sayeed Muhammad and Sons started a business a few years after World War Two. With his sharp business acumen, Sayeed Muhammad was quick to see the opportunities present in trading between Singapore and Malaysia. His idea was to supply in bulk all types of medicinal herbs, spices, pulses, lentils and rice imported from around the world. Before long, his shop gained a solid reputation for offering a wide selection of high quality commodities at very reasonable prices.

The shop's trade in commodities continued to flourish through the years. It was re-established in 1986 as Sayeed Muhammad & Sons Traders to better reflect the nature of its business. In 1991 it took another step forward when it became incorporated as Sayeed Muhammad and Sons Traders Pte Ltd. Today, trading under this new name, we serve customers from far and wide as a leading player in the trading of basmati rice, spice, lentils, nuts and pulses, dry fruits and nuts such as dates, cashews, almonds and pistachios.

With more than 70 years of success in the trade, we are now stronger than ever, and continue to serve a growing customer base that includes food manufacturers, ship chandlers, wholesalers, supermarkets, groceries, restaurants and hawkers. The secret to our success is we listen to our customers' needs and then we offer a commitment to service, product quality and competitive pricing.

We continue to delight customers by sourcing products from the regions which produce only the best. We are also a specialist by being a solution provider for our clients in recommending the type of quality food products to cater their business needs. As such, our customers are guaranteed to enjoy a wide range of products with quality that's second to none. That is why we can always keep our old customers, while winning many new ones. It is our greatest pleasure that a high satisfaction level is reported by almost all of them.

Apart from growing our local business in the Singapore market, we are actively exploring new opportunities in overseas markets such as in Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Mauritius, Fiji Islands, Canada and the United States. We are now also proudly in the business of processing and re-exporting cashew nuts. We bring raw cashew nuts into India from Indonesia and African countries like Benin, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Cote d'Ivoire and Tanzania. We then process the nuts into cashew kernels and re-export them to various countries. This is a promising business that we hope to expand in the future.
