The Indian oil industry has an annual turnover of over US$ 32 billion, a crude oil production of 30 million tonnes per annum (MMTPA), a refining capacity of 60 MMTPA, and employs more than 1,20,000 personnel.  To date India has developed sufficient indigenous human resources to operate and maintain the entire available petroleum sector infrastructure without any foreign assistance.  The Indian Oil Industry infrastructure consists of 14 oil refineries, a network of pipelines and matching marketing and distribution facilities.  The development of indigenous expertise has meant that the India oil industry has a full range of specialists who can deal with problems relating to all aspects of the industry. With respect to engineering and design too, the Indian petroleum industry is capable of handling any challenge meted out to it, in terms of construction, commissioning and operation of Exploration and Production projects, refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants & utilities, pipelines, lube blending units, LPG bottling plants, aviation fuelling facilities, installations, retail outlets etc.
