Company Introduction
As most people know, Atech Composites, one member of Horizon Group, specializes in producing strong and lightweight hulls using patented SCRIMP resin infusion technology. Now Atech has applied its core technology of FRP construction to developing and manufacturing wind turbine blades as well.
In 2002, Horizon Group began research and development in alternative power sources, especially in the wind power field. Leading the charge was Atech Composites, which was able to capitalize on its abundant experience with advanced FRP technology to take on the mission developing FRP wind blades.
Being an island, Taiwan potential energy sources from water and wind are inexhaustible, unfortunately Taiwan did not have its own wind turbine industry to supply domestic wind power needs and was 100 percent dependent on imported equipment. To solve this problem, in 2005 Atech Composites joined the Taiwan Wind Power System Development Alliance and began collaborating with many leading Taiwan based heavy industry corporations in the effort to develop a wind turbine infrastructure for the country.
In addition to its advanced technology, its own laboratory with a superior R&D team, and DNV-certified composite testing machines, Atech also receives strong support from Horizon Group headquarters. Access to Horizons CNC 5-axis molding router, which can help build accurate wind blades efficiently, is one such valuable benefit.
Atech Composites has developed the ability to manufacture various kinds and shapes of wind blades in accordance with each clients requests, such as 1 KW and 25 KW FRP wind blades and wind blades made of unsaturated polyester resin or epoxy resin. The company also can
integrate different raw materials into the blades for special requirements.
Presently, Atech is engaged in the manufacture of giant megawatt wind turbine blades and is scheduled to complete the blades for Taiwans first 2-megawatt generator with a wind blade length of 42 meters by early 2010.
In recent years, Horizon Group has tried its best to do something good for the earth and aims to develop the application of green energy. The results of our early efforts can be seen in our solar powered boats and these turbine blades, which will allow Taiwan to harness the power of the wind. Horizon Group pledges to continue its efforts in helping the global environment in every aspect.
