PJL have a procurement system in place to supply calf rearers and calf buyers. The system is based on selecting good quality calves of the right type and conformation to produce high quality cattle. PJL does not supply second rate or cheap calves.The calves are sourced from a network of farm suppliers and calf markets throughout the UK.Quality and health status are key to our system and our handling arrangements mean that calves arrive stress free. All calves supplied are screened for BVD using the IDEXX system.A testament to the success of our system is that mortality is currently under 2% in units we deal with. Growth rates are consistently in excess of 1.2 kgs per day from arrival onto the unit to 170 kgs on leaving the unit.All breeds can be supplied; BBlues, Simmentals and Angus crosss being the most popular. Friesian bulls are also available.
