Ausyfish was established in 1988. The farm has 127 earth ponds. Water is supplied from 3 storage dams.
Ausyfish is equipped with its own laboratory for health management of livestock. The facility has a quarantine room, a climate control room, and a purging facility which is AQIS approved for export.
Ausyfish is located in Queensland Australia, near Childers, which is about 320kl north of Brisbane. Childers is about 50 kilometers south of Bundaberg.
Ausyfish operates under the industry Commercial Hatchery Code of Best Practice. In 2009 the AAQ (Aquaculture Association of Queensland Inc.) began the process of accrediting professional commercial hatcheries under the Commercial Hatchery Code of Best Practice. The code was developed in consultation with fisheries authorities in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The Queensland Government provided funding to employ an independent auditor to access hatcheries compliance to the code of practice. The code focuses on desired outcomes. Ausyfish operates under the industry environment code of practice. Ausyfish, under the management of Bruce Sambell has been exporting live fish since 1988. The company has negotiated excellent freight rates for live fish and can economically send live fish to most places in the world.
