Comparison of Active Ingredients between Juncao Reishi and Wild/Wood-cultivated Reishi: With the research of Michigan State University, Peking University Health Science Center, Guangzhou Medical School, Shanghai Second Military Medical University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University Juncao Research Institute and Japan Food Analysis Center (JFRL) and other related scientific research institutions, it is proved that in addition to the same medicinal properties of wild Reishi, basswood Reishi and other ones, the Juncao Reishi contain more active ingredients than those ordinary basswood and wild Reishi: 17.5% higher in polysaccharide, 92% higher in crude fat, 65.2% and 137% higher in vitamin B1 and B2 respectively, 33% higher in fatty acids, 69.93% and 76.82% higher in calcium and phosphorus respectively; the polysaccharide peptide extraction rate is 2.8 times higher, while the total triterpene content of the spores are 6 times higher; it also contains new sterol molecules which could not be found in other reishi; all these will benefit brain development and enhance memory function. Differences between Juncao Reishi and Wild Reishi &Wood Reishi : 1. Comparison between wild Reishi released to the market and artificially cultivated Reishi: What we call Reishi usually refers to the fruiting bodies (sporophores) of Reishi. Currently, the Reishi on the market are partly wild and partly cultivated. In people�s minds, wild Reishi are very rare, so they are quite valuable; but actually it is not the case. Lin Zhibin, the Professor of Peking University known as �Father of Reishi�, famous scholar of Reishi, and the board chairman of Chinese Pharmacological Society, together with Guo Zhenyu, the Associate Researcher of Microbiology Institute of Hebei Academy pointed out that, there is no evidence that the efficacy of wild Reishi is better than cultivated ones. �1�, Properties: Generally speaking, wild Reishi have irregular sizes and deformed shapes, many of which are different in their shapes. Cultivated Reishi has large and flat pileus; �2�, Growth Problem: the absence of careful cultivation and care and damages from sun, wind and rain have caused poor quality in wild Reishi. When it was discovered, the wild Reishi is often aging or deteriorated, or decayed by pests, in which the active ingredients contained will gradually reduce and the medical effectiveness will finally deteriorate with overall lignifications. Most of the wild Reishi will be moth-eaten in the bud. In addition, because of the randomness in the growing environment for wild fungus, many unknown species of fungus will be mixed in the wild Reishi or the heavy metals contained will exceed the standard level caused by soil pollution from pesticides, which will impair the quality of those wild Reishi and even cause harm to health in case of eating by mistake. On the contrary, cultivated Reishi has experienced careful cultivation and care, which ensures their health care effects. �3�, Advantages in Picking: It is normally unable to master the right time to pick wild Reishi. If not harvested at maturity, the active ingredients contained in them will degenerate three years after the maturity and fruiting bodies will have lignifications, resulting in the disappearance of pharmacological activity. But the growth conditions of artificial Reishi can be controlled, which ensures the spore powder can be timely harvested when the active substance contained reaches the highest content, the quality is more stable and secure than the wild fungus, without any side effects. �4�, Advantages in Spore Collection: The spore powder of Reishi is the most essential part. During the picking of wild fungus, generally only the fruiting body can be picked, while reishi spore powder can be hardly collected since it is the product of a specific growth cycle, except by artificial cultivation. The artificial cultivation of Reishi is able to master its growth cycle, so spore powders can be completely collected. About the biological activity, in the research of Reishi on the killing of tumor cells in vitro experiments, researchers established three groups for comparison in the experiment, namely wild Reishi powders, artificial cultivated Reishi powders and artificial cultivated Reishi powders plus spore powder, After comparison, they found that wild and cultivated Reishi have same ability of killing tumor cells; however, if adding spore powders into the cultivated Reishi, its ability to kill cancer cells increased 10 times, indicating that Reishi spore powder combined with the fruiting body can greatly improve the biological activity of Reishi. 5, Nutritional Advantages: Organic Germanium is water soluble, and influenced by the wind, sunshine and rain, the organic germanium of wild Reishi is almost depleted, and this is why the opposite side of wild Germanium does not seem yellow. Wild Reishi is naked under the wind and rain, which makes it difficult to retain the most essential part of the Reishi - spores.
